Manufacturers

Manufacturers can support product truth, not family targeting.

Structured product information can reduce uncertainty when authority, version history, corrections and paid influence are explicit.

Your question

Product truth

The manufacturer role begins with accurate product identity and safety-relevant information.

Families need to know what an item is, which variant they are looking at, who it may suit, what it is compatible with and which instructions, warnings or maintenance requirements apply. Clear canonical information reduces contradictory product cards and helps stores attach offers to the correct item.

The proposed Product Passport brings these facts into one traceable record across purchase, use, maintenance and possible reuse. It should make uncertainty visible and never turn promotional language into a safety or suitability claim.

Huddle’s proposed response

Bounded authority

A Brand Portal may confirm official facts without controlling the whole marketplace record.

A verified manufacturer or authorised representative may provide model identifiers, specifications, variants, manuals, compatibility, warranty framework and safety updates. The source, date and responsible organisation should remain visible when those facts are reused.

That authority does not extend to a retailer’s current price or stock, an independent seller’s description of a used item, family reviews or the platform’s trust decisions. Product authority, offer authority and condition evidence must remain separate.

Commercial boundary

Better product information must not become hidden influence over family choice.

A brand may fund approved tools or clearly labelled communication later, but payment must not suppress warnings, competing options, lower-cost routes or independent relevance. Manufacturers should receive product-level or governed aggregate learning, not identifiable household profiles.

Huddle does not claim an operating Brand Portal, verified manufacturer network, product feeds, recall integration, transactions, commercial terms or revenue. These roles require source verification, legal review and family-facing tests before operation.
